Lopez is Zoe, a broody 30-something who, believing her luck has run out and her love life going nowhere, quickly decides artificial insemination is the way to go. With bun successfully rising in the oven, moments later she meets and falls for Stan (O'Loughlin) and the rules of romcoms take over as the film ebbs and flows through the usual highs and lows as love and fidelity conquer adversity, with a few poo gags and banana skin moments thrown in to lighten the proceedings.
You’ve seen it all before – infinitely beautiful, working-class couple flirt awkwardly before falling head over heels in love following an implausibly extravagant date. Quirky supporting cast provides hijinks and light relief from the serious business: in this instance, the pitfalls of pregnancy and fathering children that are not your own. Intensifying squabbles between leading actors make way for romantic redemption and getting down on one knee. The end.
If you enjoy generic romcoms, you’ll get your fill here. For everyone else, avoid.
EXTRAS ★ Just four deleted scenes, an 11-minute making-of featurette, and two trailers for other SOny Blu-ray releases.
