Spork (Stehlin) is so used to being picked on, she hasn't even bothered to clean the graffiti ("FUCK FACE", "PUBE HEAD") off her schoolbag. Reviled because she's a hermaphrodite, Spork has a particularly crap time at school thanks to Betsy Byotch (Fox) and her gang, a gaggle of bitchy blonde Britney Spears obsessives who could have walked straight out of Mean Girls.

Potential redemption comes in the form of the school dance-off, although this could just as easily result in total humiliation. Spork's trailer-park neighbour, Tootsie Roll (Park), plans to enter so she can spend the $236 prize money on visiting her dad in prison. But then an injured leg puts Tootsie Roll out of action, meaning that it falls to Spork to try and krump her way to victory... Okay, so she can't actually dance, yet, but she's good at Twister and that's a start.

Something of a cross between Mean Girls, Little Miss Sunshine and Napoleon Dynamite, and resplendent in bright neon colours with a cheery chiptune soundtrack, Spork is feisty, funny and feelgood. It's always nice to see a misfit fighting back, especially if they're as likeable as Spork is, and the short running time means this zips past. It's a total gem of a movie.
