It’s always annoying when you’re a fan of someone’s work, collect every film of theirs on DVD ... and then what happens? The whole lot get released in a swanky new box set. While old fans of Meadows will understandably be pissed off, newcomers to the British director’s work could do a lot worse than sticking their hand in their pocket for this little beauty.

Featuring four of his best flicks, This Is Shane Meadows includes the superb Twentyfourseven, along with cracking comedy A Room For Romeo Brass as well as the chilling Dead Man’s Shoes. Not only that, the set also features his recent critically acclaimed masterpiece, This Is England. It’s a tremendous box set that truly shows off the competent versatility of one of the country’s finest directors; the good news is that for anyone already owning most of the films in the set, they're the same discs — no new features or anything, just a bit of packaging that not really that worth sulking over. The bad news, however, is that the extras on Romeo Brass and Twentyfourseven are a bit crap, although there’s great stuff on the other two.

EXTRAS*** You get a whole disc full of extra stuff for This Is England including commentaries, interviews and deleted scenes while it’s an equally good bunch of goodies for Dead Man’s Shoe’s.
