Mock The Week DVDInitially dismissed as a pretender to the Have I Got News For You throne, that fact that this series continues to grow from strength to strength it is definitely time to reassess. This is a collection of clips and sketches from the most recent series as well as unseen footage from previous episodes.

Ably hosted by Dara O’Briain, a number of the land's finest comedians take part in a number of tried-and-tested rounds which are little more than the set-up for some genuinely hilarious observations on topical issues. Sure some of the jokes are no more than quickly abridged versions of the performer’s stand up routines, but for most they will still be fresh and original.

There are a number of reasons to watch this, from the host with some great lines to off the wall journeys into some sick and twisted minds, but by far the most compulsive reason to watch is the undeniable genius of Frankie Boyle. The Scottish bespectacled joker already infamous for some of the most outlandish things on TV is even more unabashed here. He may look like the missing member of The Proclaimers, but if there’s a funnier man on TV at the moment I haven’t seen him. Surprisingly there is a lot of content on this DVD, which makes it one to get… just in time for Xmas as well. Job done.
