Yes, they're vampires. And they're also lesbians. And they get killed – quite messily. And there's numerous laughs along the way. That's pretty much all you need to know about this so-so new British horror-comedy.

What? You want to know more? Well, um, let's see. There's these two blokes off the telly, see? They've kinda made a name for themselves in this sitcom called Gavin and Stacey (which I've never seen, but am assured by the people who know such things that it's well clever and funny). They've also got themselves a new sketch comedy show, which I have seen, but haven't found all that funny yet (they really should stick to the acting more than the writing). Luckily, though, they're much funnier here. Corden and Horne play lifelong best mates Jimmy and Fletch. One day, after after Jimmy gets dumped yet again by his user-bitch of a girlfriend (Gaskell) they decide to go camping and somehow end up in the little village of Cragwich, which seems to be infested with nasty (but hot) bloodsucking lesbian vampires. They have to set about killing them, and also lifting a curse that turns all the local girls into lesbian vampires when they hit the ripe old age of 18.

The humour here is more Benny Hill than Shaun of the Dead, which may not play all that well with today's modern, sophisticated audiences — you know, the ones who still haven't learned where the "off" button is on their mobile phone when they go to the cinema. There are plenty of misfires and missed opportunities — for a film with such a raunchy title, there is barely a nipple to be seen. There's also a surprising lack of gore for a vampire film, the girls exploding in a mess of white semen-like gloop when they're killed. Yes, it's a stupid film, but it knows that it's stupid — and that's OK in my book. It managed to keep me laughing for much of its running time, and you can't ask for much more from a comedy than that.

EXTRAS *** An audio commentary with director Claydon; three featurettes – Reserection: Bringing LVK to Life, Whores of Fucking Hades, and The Fletch-Meister; a music video for the song Crying Blood; webisides, which went online during production; and two trailers. One thing to watch out for if you're plannig on buying this DVD – depending on where you go, you'll get a censored cover. The people who run Tesco, Borders, Sainsbury's and Asda seem to have a problem with lesbians. I guess UK lesbians shop at Waitrose and HMV.
