First off, if you enjoy sense-polarising movie experiences, then I cannot recommend Inside enough.
This deeply disturbing French horror put out by The Weinstein Company's Dimension Extreme label centres around a young photographer who is imminently expecting her first child, four months after the death of her husband, and is subjected to a hellish night by a strange woman who wants her unborn baby.
The level of gore in this film is simply off the chain – it's truly disgusting – but it's not blood and guts for blood and guts' sake, it's a truly poignant and powerful film with rabid intensity.
I had never heard of it before viewing, was immediately engaged by the beautiful cinematography in the opening scenes, and then totally gripped as soon as the nastiness began. Inside will knock your socks off, put them back on, then knock them off again.
EXTRAS ** 60-minute making of documentary and the trailer.
