National Lampoon have made one exceptional (Animal House) and one reasonably decent (Vacation) film over the years. The other 50 odd movies and TV shows that carry their branding are mostly forgettable — and this latest outing falls firmly into that camp too.

Three guys hatch a plot to get themselves laid — they'll hold fake auditions for a film that they are not actually making and have their wicked way with as many wannabe actresses as they can. And, err, that's about it as far as plot is concerned. They do ultimately get found out (of course), get put on trial for fraud (of course) and get off after one of them edits together some of the girls' audition tapes into a "reality TV show" and fools the judge. Of course. This is nothing but a cheaply shot, poorly acted "sex comedy" that's totally devoid of any sex or laughs.

And it's totally devoid of a talented cast, too. Thomas Ian Nicholas, an actor with an extremely limited range, is best known as Kevin from the American Pie films, and here he plays pretty much the same character. Jenny Mollen's greatest claim to fame is marrying Jason Biggs, aka the "pie guy" from the American Pie films. Nicole Eggert? She used to run prettily along the beach in Baywatch. And Diedrich Bader was in Meet The Spartans. Cattle Call has a pretty decent breast quota, so it should appeal to pre-pubescent boys. And nobody else.
