A low-key Spanish drama about two subdued, mismatched individuals looking for love, this earnest, honest tale unfortunately never takes flight.
Suarez plays a shy factory worker who wins a free holiday, but after falling out with her sister, finds that she has no-one to accompany her on the trip. Huertos is a lowly office worker who bumps into her and reminds her that they were schoolmates years past. She has no recollection of him but is willing to go on a couple of dates to get to know him. Their awkward pairings don't necessarily make each other happy but they still strive for connection to one another. She eventually asks him to be her guest on the free holiday, but will he take up her offer? Or will she have second thoughts about travelling with him?
If they were more likeable or endearing one would feel more involved in the burgeoning relationship, but they remain resolutely cold characters never drawing one in to their plight. The lackadaisical pacing doesn't help either. The two leads are perfectly convincing as they tentatively open themselves up for companionship but they could do with more viatlity and energy. Overall it's an OK effort but ultimately never persuasive enough. Better luck next time.
